During the Tudor period, Yuletide was a time of rest where communities came together. In a time before Christmas trees, homes were decorated with mistletoe, holly, yew and laurel to celebrate the season. A log was decorated with ribbons and laid on the hearth, kept alight throughout the 12 days of Christmas in the hopes of good luck for the year to follow.
Drawing inspiration from these customs you will be able to make your own garland or wreath working with evergreens and seasonal items. All equipment and materials will be supplied along with tutelage every step of the way. Explore our galleries, discovering everyday Tudor life to spark creativity and gain inspiration.
