13th - 16th August: Hands on History: Beeswax candle making & Summer Stroytelling
Hands on History Crafts running 11am – 3pm, drop in at any time during this period to make your craft! Craft activities should take between 20 and 30 minutes to make. Hands on History: The Tudors couldn’t flip a light switch to light their way in the dark, instead they used candles to iluminate the darkness. We found remains of candles aboard the Mary Rose, these were made from tallow (stinky animal fat!) But wealthy Tudors splashed out on sweet smelling beeswax candles. Get hands on with history and make your very own Tudor inspired beeswax candle to take home!
Summer Storytelling: Enjoy two storytelling sessions led by our costumed Tudors, explore the world of Vlad the Flea and You wouldnt want to sail aboard the Mary Rose! Dont forget to dress the part and take your photo as a Tudor!
*ticket for participation in crafts and storytelling only, entry ticket to museum required.
