Saturday 16th May - Shardlake Experience at The Mary Rose Museum

Join us for a unique experience which combines an exploration of the Mary Rose Museum led by expert guides, and an insight into the works of author C. J. Sansom, author of the Shardlake series of Novels including Heartstone and Lamentation.

The tour will lead visitors through the collection, highlighting aspects which are featured in Sansom’s sixth novel Heartstone.

Heartstone is a historical mystery, set in the 16th Century during the reign of King Henry VIII, the events of the novel take place in the summer of 1545, during which Shardlake travels to Portsmouth, the novels features the preparations for the Battle of the Solent and the King’s warship, which fatefully sank – The Mary Rose.

The experience includes a goody bag for each guest, including a copy of Heartstone, a full museum tour, with readings of the novel, given by costumed guides, a break for tea and coffee, behind the scenes access to our Reserve Collections and the chance to handle real and replica artefacts.

This experience is perfect for history and literary fans alike.
