BOOK - FUTURE GENERATIONS£20.00
The raising of the Mary Rose in 1982 presented huge conservation challenges. During the excavation 26,000 items were removed and the hull itself is the largest archaeological find ever to be conserved. Almost all the items required some kind of scientific treatment to halt the effect of 450 years of burial beneath the Solent and the conservation work turned out to be one of the largest and most complex programmes ever to have been undertaken.
For Future Generations provides an introduction to the conservation programme devised for the Mary Rose.
