Rib Rides

Extend your Mary Rose experience, take a rib ride out into the Solent to the Mary Rose wreck site and hear about the sinking and salvage of King Henry VIII's famous warship.

Your skipper will provide a full safety brief prior to boarding the vessel and instruct how to board, where to sit, the location of safety equipment and full instructions in the event of an emergency. Please pay attention & ask if you don’t fully understand what you are told. All trips are subject to the terms and conditions of business identified on our website (www.onboardcharters.com). Your participation in this activity is subject to those terms & conditions. (Please ask our staff if you wish to review them)

All our life jackets are auto self-inflating. It’s mandatory that you wear one. In the unlikely event you enter the water, it will automatically inflate. If it doesn’t, you’ll need to pull the manual inflation toggle. The skipper will demonstrate the operation of the safety toggle during his brief. The lifejacket will require adjustment to fit you correctly & staff will assist if necessary. Do not pull the red inflation toggle in any non-emergency situation  (an immediate £ 40 recharge fee will be made in all instances if you do so).

RIB Experiences are unsuitable for people with back, spinal, hip or joint problems, heart conditions, epilepsy, pregnancy or a pre-existing injury or any medical condition that could be adversely affected by the fast jolting motion of a powerboat. If you’re taking medication that you feel may affect your ability to participate in this experience in complete safety, please make our staff aware prior to boarding the vessel. If we consider that you can participate safely, please ensure you’ve sufficient medication for the minimum duration of the trip. If you have concerns regarding a pre-existing injury or condition that may be affected by you participating, please ensure you advise the skipper prior to boarding the vessel.

You may get wet whilst participating: This can vary considerably according to weather & sea conditions on the day, and it’s completely beyond our control. Any items brought aboard the vessel are carried against our advice & entirely at your own risk.  We do not accept any responsibility for property lost or damaged if brought aboard our vessels against this advice.

Remain seated whilst underway and hold on firmly at all times.  If the vessel is travelling at speed, do not attempt to turn around, or look behind. Maintain a firm grip on seat frames/grab handles at all times. Keep your feet on the floor taking your weight, with legs flexed if sitting astride jockey seats, to mitigate shock/impact to your body, & in particular, your back/spine. If you experience any pain or discomfort at any time please notify the skipper immediately.

Taking part in the Wreck Site Rib Ride is done at your own risk and the Mary Rose will not be responsible for any direct, indirect or consequential loss, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), for breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, arising under or in connection with your experience, including for loss or damage to property.
